The Bad Hats
A Contemporary Folk Experience
As a singer-songwriter, Benny Jenkins has thrown together a dedicated family of musicians from vastly different backgrounds for a four-piece contemporary folk band with a sound as unique as each of their members’ personalities. Between the sweet electric guitar vibes from Grayson Gerni, the deep and disciplined grooves from Jack Gardner on the drums, and the happy walk-in-the-park melodies from Rocky Carnell on mandolin, their soundtrack has plenty of emotional depth to take you on a journey of friendship and resilience that can only be felt through the art of lyrical storytelling. One may find themselves swept away on an adventure limited only by their own courage and imagination.
“We strive to write music that makes you dream, hope, want, live, smile, laugh, and love in any way that is genuine and pure. Join us in our quest as we write music to help us understand the world around us and attempt to bring people together under a tapestry of love and belonging through the power of music, with melodies to combat hatred and harmonies to enrich community.“
"The band has always been incredibly well- received." - Stacie Krieger, HNI President
”The Bad Hats were a phenomenal addition for 95.7 the Spin to interview! They were one of my favorite acts along with being my favorite to interview. They are down to earth, yet their music cuts through to really be something that makes you stand still. Quirkiness, kindness and passion will take them very far in the music industry!” - Caitlyn Jones, 95.7 FM The Spin
“The Bad Hats are as committed to community as they are to their music. With smiles on their faces, they were an essential part of our 2018 TSA Pride Event.”
— Wally Paynter, President TSA
